Gilbert

Nicknamed “Gil”, he is 16 years old and 18 hands high.  Calm and steady describe this gentle giant.  He’s a blonde Belgian, aptly named for their blonde mane and tail.  Gil is a hard puller, and likes to go!

Gus

Gus is also a blonde Belgian, named after the King of Sweden, Gustav.  He is 15 years old and 16 ½ hands high.  Full of personality, he is a little boy in a big body.  Gussy craves human attention, loving to be scratched and petted.  He’s a hard, steady puller, not as big as the others but has a big heart.  Gus is a true Wilson, born and raised on the family ranch, along with his twin sister, Gwen, which is very rare among horses.

Ranch History

History 1.png

Five Generations of History

In June 1888 a young man of Scot/Irish decent name Thomas Ross Wilson traveled North to “investigate the unknown country around Teton City, Idaho”. Upon reaching Teton Basin, he made a tour of the valley and left determined to make it his home.

In April 1889 he returned with his family to raise livestock and crops on the Wyoming and Idaho border, “with the towering Tetons on the east range”. They realized their dream in what is now known as Alta, Wyoming, in the shadow of those great mountains.

Over one hundred years and five generations later, their great-grandson Meredith, his wife Dana, and their children, continue caring for the land and living “the good life”. Here, on that same ranch, at 6,500 feet above sea level, our love for the wide-open blue skies, fields of green, and fresh mountain air has only become stronger. We consider living in this special place a “grand” opportunity and are passionate about keeping our land open to share with generations to come. We are hopeful of sharing our story, hospitality, and experience with you!
